Deriskly is seeking a talented Technical Lead to play a pivotal role in conducting a feasibility study and proof of concept for an innovative AI solution that will harness Natural Language Processing (NLP) to analyse email communications for detecting risks of disputes in the construction sector.You will have extensive experience in leading end-to-end processes of enterprise software design, development and implementation, with relevant experience in machine learning and NLP applications and in undertaking technical feasibility studies. We are looking for an individual who can work independently and collaborate effectively within a small, dynamic team.

This will be a fixed-term consultancy contract for 10 days per month over 6 months (November 2023 to April 2024). You will be reporting to the Project Lead, Dr Mimi Zou.

Responsibilities

‍Technical Leadership: Harness your extensive experience as a technical lead to drive the delivery of afeasibility study and a PoC (within 6 months) that aligns with the project goals and technological capabilities. Oversee the development of prototypes and conduct rigorous testing. Create detailed documentation of methodologies, findings, and insights.  

‍Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, legal/regulatory experts and project stakeholders in the construction sector, to gather requirements and ensure ongoing stakeholder input in carrying out the feasibility study and developing the PoC. Work closely with the Project Lead to communicate project progress and outcomes effectively to stakeholders.

· Experience: 5+ years in enterprise software development, with experience in machine learning and NLP-based applications.
· Technical Proficiency: Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or similar. Proven experience with NLP frameworks and libraries.
· Proficiency in analysing technical requirements and constraints, conducting risk assessments, and providing recommendations for technical solutions.
· Leadership and Project Management Skills: Proven track record as a technical lead for complex, innovative projects involving multidisciplinary teams, driving projects from concept to implementation, and meeting project timelines.
· Communication and Coordination: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:
· Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
· Previous experience in projects involving analysis of communication data (emails, chats, social media, customer feedback) using ML/NLP technologies.
· Experience in implementing/integrating AI-based systems within enterprise settings.
· Familiarity with cloud-based services and tools (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).

The consultancy rate will be around £400 per day, depending on the level of experience. The role is remote and we are open to having flexible working for the right candidate. Candidates based in the UK are strongly preferred.
